Anne Shibata Casselman is a freelance journalist based in Vancouver BC. Her background includes manning a bat cave in central Texas for the Nature Conservancy, interning at Discover magazine in New York City, and starting up an online science magazine for women called Inkling.
She began freelancing in 2005 and her writing has appeared in National Geographic News, Scientific American, Reader’s Digest, The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, Vancouver Magazine, Canadian Geographic, AARP magazine, BCBusiness, The Narwhal, Discovery Channel magazine, and Chatelaine.
She holds a Masters in Science Communication from the University College London and is currently the creative writing instructor for the Vancouver Public Library.
Speaking about this phase of her writing career she says “I now strive to provide readers with the kind of long-form narrative reporting that progresses their understanding of the world, and shows them how the status quo could be improved to make life more fair. “
